Filomena Campus

Internationally renowned jazz vocalist/lyricist, theatre director and university lecturer, Filomena Campus has collaborated with top UK and Italian jazz musicians including Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Evan Parker, Kenny Wheeler, Orphy Robinson, Byron Wallen, Cleveland Watkiss, Jean Toussaint and the London Improvisers Orchestra. Filomena has performed at many jazz festivals around the world, including UK, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, Morocco and Croatia amongst others.

In 2010 she founded the Filomena Campus Quartet with Steve Lodder, Dudley Phillips and Rod Youngs, with whom she released the CD Jester of Jazz. They perform regularly at London jazz venues such at the PizzaExpress Jazz Club, the Vortex and Ronnie Scott’s. The quartet has also composed the original project ‘ITALY VD ENGLAND’, with texts by acclaimed author Stefano Benni and lyrics by Filomena Campus. In 2014 Campus recorded the album Scaramouche with Giorgio Serci, featuring the late Kenny Wheeler.

Filomena Campus is also Theatralia Artistic Director. Productions include Not in My Name

inspired by The Living Theatre and U238 by Marco Paolini. The acclaimed production ‘MONK Misterioso. A Journey into the Silence of Thelonious Monk’, written by Stefano Benni, toured UK and was sold out at Kings Place at the 2017 London Jazz Festival
